In a linear route of 3 km, several panels inform about the species that can be seen there
Ornithology, along with the large trees and geological formations, is one of the main ecotourism resources of Alt Urgell. In order to enjoy the observation of different species of birds, the ornithological itinerary of Calbinyà has been enabled, between the towns of Calbinyà and La Seu d'Urgell, which runs between the thermal baths of Valls de Valira and La Seu of Urgell
This route is very frequented by the inhabitants of La Seu, for the practice of sport and nature walks. Given its uniqueness, due to the variety of different habitats found in a short stretch of just three kilometers, the route has been supplemented with interesting information about the variety of species that can be seen there.
The linear route is 2.9 km, with a difference in level of 305 m and an easy degree of difficulty (211), according to the Sendif calculation method. The route is bi-directional, travels along existing paths and paths and crosses several environments that provide a diversity of birds.
It is equipped with interpretive posters and wooden benches oriented towards spaces with very unique landscape views over the Seu d'Urgell and the Urgellet plain. The four different environments that the route crosses have a poster with illustrations and the names in Catalan, scientific, English, Spanish and French of the species that can be observed in the four sectors: open space, coniferous forest, wasteland with scrub and deciduous forest.
In the open space: royal kite, black kite, common buzzard, common vulture, aufrany, golden eagle, marc eagle, shoed eagle, common kestrel and crow.
In the coniferous forest: Plumed teal, Little teal, Common ruff, Great-breasted woodpecker, Common finch, Pine nutcracker, Lapwing, Snail, Pale gnatcatcher and jay.
In the wasteland with thickets: red partridge, capsigran, black grouse, common woodcock, garrigue shrike, shrike, black sit, goldfinch, croaker and black falcon.
In the deciduous forest: Capped woodpecker, Great woodpecker, Great-breasted woodpecker, Blue woodpecker, Red-breasted woodpecker, Robin, Common blackbird, Oriole, Little woodpecker and Blue woodpecker.
