Fígols i Alinyà

Single-nave Romanesque church with a semicircular apse facing east. The church is built on bedrock, with a plinth that levels it on the south side. Within the nearly two-metre-thick walls are four chapels; the ones closest to the apse are semicircular in plan. The nave has a pointed barrel vault, and the apse is covered by a quarter-sphere vault. The west façade features a window with four recessed arches, decorated on the intrados with balls, similar to the cathedral of La Seu d’Urgell. The entrance is also on the west façade, framed by four recessed arches. A robust two-arched bell gable crowns the building. Its masonry is distinctive, alternating courses of rough stone and limestone. The church was consecrated by Bishop Guillem Guifré in 1057, though the current building dates from the late 12th century.
