With the aim of making citizens co-responsible for the importance of public paths as a heritage of the whole world, we propose the creation of a programme of participation of the Alt Urgell territory watchmen and watchwatchmen. The figure of the Alt Urgell territory watchers does not only want to be linked to the notification of incidents detected on the paths, but also to participate in their recovery, maintenance and signposting on a regular basis. In this way, the local population and all the volunteers who join the programme will feel more involved in the project, in the public paths, and in their importance as a mobility infrastructure, heritage element or tourist resource.

WHO CAN BE A WATCHMEN OF THE TERRITORY?

Any agent of the territory (public or private) linked to the sector of walking, ecotourism, hiking, heritage (understood in the broadest sense of the term) and tourism in general, as well as any person who has a link with the management of the paths or shows a certain interest, whether from a landscape, heritage, recreational, sporting or tourist point of view.

The Regional Council has set up a management model and protocol based on the Territory Watchers in the following phases:

Creation of the guide and additional documentation for the creation of the figure of the Territory Watchman. Action completed jointly with the consultancy firm Rius.

Drafting of the Territory Watchmen Participation Programme. For more information, see the file at the bottom of the page.

Start of the promotion for the creation of a private public network of participation and management of the territory.

Putting the model into operation.
