Fígols i Alinyà

Single-nave church with a semicircular apse at the east end. The nave is covered by a barrel vault. On each side, there are two modern chapels, the southern one expanded to house the sacristy. The roofs are tiled, except over the apse, where stone slabs are used. On the west façade rises a two-arched bell gable, almost as wide as the façade itself. The thrust of the vault is countered by three sloping buttresses on the north wall. A choir occupies the first section of the nave, with the date 1843 carved on the transverse beam. The site of Fígols, “valle Ficulensis”, is documented in 978. The mention of Sant Víctor appears in 999, but explicit references to the church date from 1051. In 1834, during the Carlist Wars, a liberal squad from Tuixent took refuge here. Carlist troops set the building on fire, killing twelve enemy soldiers.
