Romanesque church with a single nave, ending to the east with a semicircular apse. The nave is roofed with a wooden structure, while the apse has a quarter-sphere vault. The current entrance, with a lowered arch, opens in the west façade. The masonry includes numerous well-squared blocks of soft stone, arranged in relatively regular courses. The building is topped with a tile roof and a single-eye bell gable over the west wall. A church dedicated to Saint James is documented in 1029 within the Tuixent area. It seems to have long been associated with the nearby house of Cal Rot, and by 1259, it is referred to as Sant Jaume de Rot.
